Purpose of the position
. To provide administration, maintenance and support for the ongoing operation of SAP and other core business applications within the Linde ( ex BOC ) Group of companies;
. To enhance the support skills across other BOC database systems and applications such as SAP and Maximo.

Principal responsibilities
. To identify and deliver support processes for these production services and to provide centre of excellence technical support for all technologies mission critical to The BOC Group as part of a 'service comes first' environment;
. To work effectively with IT teams across BOC in order to gain and share knowledge of systems and together provide support across all business critical services delivered from the GDC in order to deliver to customer expectations;
. To support technologies and services, as required by The BOC Group, in line with industry best practise (ITIL and ISO9001:2000) and to meet the requirements of legislation such as Sarbanes- Oxley S404;
. To ensure the effective development of the most efficient and cost effective service by means of technical, database and application design reviews;
. Coach other team members in their skills in order to share the knowledge of all the support teams areas of responsibility across the GCE technical support team

Required key skills (functional/technical)
. 3+ years of SAP Basis skills in the following: R/3, CRM (inc. middleware), BW, APO, EP6,
Netweaver, Business Connector. ( 5+ years of experience mandatory for senior Band )
. Experience in SAP BW / XI will be preferred ( Mandatory for senior Band )
. DBA skills in the following database technologies: Oracle (running on Unix / AIX platforms),
Knowledge of any other databases will be preferred
. Ability to learn and absorb knowledge quickly;
. Good understanding of customer needs and demands through working in a service delivery
environment and supporting business critical services;
. Skills in one or more of the following areas:
. Operating System skills in Unix , AIX , HP â€"UX ( Mandatory for Senior Band )
. Tivoli Skills will be preferred
. Skills in the following area would also be advantageous: Control-M, SQL Server Database, MQ Series;
. Strong analytical skills;
. Experience of working in both small and large teams is desirable;
. Experience in global working is desirable; ( Mandatory for Senior Band )
. Good communication and coordination skills
DBA Skills ( Preferable not Mandatory )
. Oracle 9i/10G Installation on AIX / Windows.
. Monitoring and tuning of database and application SQL
. Provision and capacity planning for adequate database storage.
. Sizing and capacity planning
. Security and integrity Administration.
. Perform updates, patch installation and audits
. DB Upgrade and migration.
. Structural change review and implementation.
. Administration of Enterprise Management, and recovery catalog databases
. Strong hands on experience in UNIX scripting for Database and Perl.
. Experience in Backup and Recovery.
. Experience in disaster recovery
. Knowledge of SQLNET, INET, ODBC, TCP/IP
. Oracle Replication and Oracle 10G RAC.
Required qualifications/experience
. Minimum 3 years experience in a business/information technology environment, with experience of all aspects of systems development; ( 6 to 8yrs for Senior Band )
. Degree standard education (preferably scientific, technical or business discipline).
